Glasgow Warriors sign All Blacks winger Lelia Masaga

first_imgGlasgow Warriors have signed Lelia Masaga from Super Rugby side Chiefs on a two-year contract, subject to a medical and visa. The 30-year-old winger from New Zealand, who has been capped once for the All Blacks, will join the club in August. Masaga will join up with new Warriors coach Dave Rennie, with whom he won two Super Rugby titles with at Chiefs in 2012 and 2013. The man nicknamed Flash is Glasgow’s fifth new signing ahead of the 2017/18 season.  Glasgow Warriors incoming assistant coach, Jason O’Halloran, said: “Lelia is an experienced and powerful player who has proven himself at the highest level in Super Rugby.“He knows Dave (Rennie) well through their time together at the Chiefs and will be an excellent addition to our squad.”The signing has been met warmly by supporters as well: He joins Huw Jones, Callum Gibbins, Oli Kebble and Adam Hastings at the club.Speaking to the club’s official site, Masaga said: “I’m excited to be joining my new club Glasgow Warriors in August.“I’m looking forward to being there under Dave Rennie as head coach, to be part of a great team of players and to meet all the fans who support the club. “I can’t wait to start this new journey in Scotland.” last_img read more
