Share Mr Behanzin’s office is located on Cork Street in RoseauThe police are investigating a report of alleged firebombing at the office of former magistrate and attorney at law Tiyani Behanzin on Wednesday, 12th June.The building where the incident occurred is located on #49 Cork Street, Roseau and houses HORUS Chambers, owned by Mr Behanzin.“About 5:15am on June 12 2013, it was reported that Molotov cocktail were thrown at the building causing damage to a window but the building was not burnt,” police public relations officer inspector John Carbon said in a media release on Wednesday afternoon.According to Wikipedia, Molotov cocktail is a breakable glass bottle containing a flammable substance such as gasoline/petrol or a napalm-like mixture, with some motor oil added, and usually a source of ignition such as a burning cloth wick held in place by the bottle’s stopper. Mr Carbon said they are investigating a report of attempted arson and has asked that anyone who may have information in relation to this crime to call the police HINT LINE 1-800-4468 or CRIME STOPPERS at 1-800-8477.Earlier, we reported that the Fire and Ambulance, when contacted, indicated that no report was made of the incident. It is not clear at this point when the incident occurred or what time.Upon arrival at the building where Mr Benhanzin’s office is located on Cork Street in Roseau, there were no signs from the outside that such incident had occurred. Our reporter was able to accompany Mervin Robinson, the representative of Malcolm Stephen who owns the building.Back view of the second floor of the building where Mr Behanzin’s office is located.From our observations, only one bathroom window was broken on the right side of the building.According to Mr Robinson, this was also confirmed by Mr Behinzin that only one window was broken and that he is ok.But, Mr Robinson told Dominica Vibes that “the window appears to be broken from the inside”.Mr. Benhazin locked himself inside his office and refused to speak to media reporters. He indicated however that he would probably do so sometime later.There is a pre-school on the ground floor of the building and according to the workers, they only heard of the incident on the radio this morning. Although police officers came on the scene just before 8am, they did not inform them of anything.Dominica Vibes Newslast_img
