Tweet Share Share 15 Views   no discussionscenter_img Share LocalNews Re-sale of citrus plants commences by: – June 6, 2014 The Ministry of Agriculture has announced that it has commenced the re-sale of citrus plants at its Citrus Certification Centre in the Botanic Gardens, Roseau.These citrus plants include oranges, ortanics, tangerines, grapefruits and limes.Citrus farmers are advised that they must obtain a clearance notification from an extension officer before coming to purchase these plants.“Those will be purchased via a note or a letter from the extension officer; it will not just be the exchange of cash,” Petra Grell of the Division of Agriculture said on June 6, 2014.“The extension officer has to verify that your fields or your farms are ready in terms of the holes have been dug, the lines have been set and the fields are appropriate for planting”.The plants will be sold at $15 per plant for back yard gardeners and $10 for commercial farmersMrs Grell informed that avocadoes, mangoes, passion fruits, and other exotic fruits can be purchased at other stations such as Londonderry, Portsmouth and Grand Bay.She also informed that coffee and cocoa plants can be purchased, as usual, “through your extension officer and those are only bought at the Woodford Hill station”.Dominica Vibes Newslast_img
